1974 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR Turbo Pilots: G. Lennep, H. Müller Team: Martini Racing Race: 2nd overall (S 3.0) at Le Mans in 1974 Ebbro - 44308 (diecast)

In my opinion one of the sexiest porkers to ever race down the Mulsanne, the Carrera RSR #22 here finished the 24 Heures du Mans only six laps behind the winning Matra MS670C #7, not bad at all for the car’s first race at La Sarthe! And don’t forget, the MS670C was nothing more than a prototype.
So this Carrera RSR was a holy grail for me, even when I was collecting 1:18s. And the problem with holy grail models is that sometimes you get disappointed, but that was not the case here. Far from that! A very nice model, with great details and a killer paint job.
Ok, the pins on the headlights (“dead eyes”) are not exactly sexy, but but I don’t find them too much of a detraction. Look at it, it smiles 😁! And to compensate the pins, the thing has disk brakes on the wheels! Cool or what? So a GREAT model, and from now on I’ll look at Ebbro with different eyes.
But this car is even more special than being a holy grail or absolutely sexy: it was a present from a VERY dear person, my friend Gary (Earl of Northumberland), who also was the one who arranged for me to buy the 1:18 all those years ago .
And BTW, you will read quite a lot about Gary here.
