Altaya - PV03 (diecast)

This is Altaya’s version of the 5.5l V10 diesel-gobbling monster that won Le Mans in 2010. Successor to the R10, the R15 first raced in March of 2009, at the 12 Hours of Sebring. Although winning at Sebring, in June that year at the 24 Heures du Mans it lost to Peugeot’s 908. However, they still managed a podium finish with third place. The following year though, Audi set things straight, and came in first and second places.
Model-wise it’s a nice one, definitively not great but at least passable (to say the least). Being honest, it’s a pretty decent model for an Altaya. In fact, I could go as far as saying that this one is my best Altaya. Even so, it’s not as good as my Panoz LMP-1 for instance, specially because of the paint job. On the Panoz the paint was much more crisp.
While this may be true , I don’t think I would pass on the opportunity of an upgrade. I could add “if the price was right” to that, but this model is an overall winner. And since detail-wise there is a Spark version out there that is definitely nicer… There’s no need to say that better detailing comes at a price, but again, this is an overall winner. With that being so, the R15 TDI+ #9 deserves to be better represented in the W-143 Garage. Oh yes, I’ll have to upgrade to a Spark sooner or later.
